Vitas Bells

Russian musical artist Vitas has been a regular sight in collections of memes since his hilarious 7th Element video started gathering steam online. The original performance dates back to a televised New Year’s Eve performance from 2001, but the singer’s wacky costume and makeup choices, repetitive vocalisations, understated choreography and rapid tongue movements have kept the performance in the spotlight years later.

Vitas himself has taken hold of the meme and seems to have a good sense of humor about the rebirth of his performance as an online phenomenon. This is revealed through his release of a bizarre “Jingle Vitas” video, in which his various vocalisations from the 7th Element performance have been re-purposed into a very unique version of the Christmas classic, Jingle Bells.

Disney is a company inextricably linked to Christmas. Films made under their core brand, and under the Touchstone label, are among the most watched family fare at this time of year. With Disney now in control of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, perhaps it is inevitable that they will soon create a Christmas-themed Avengers tale.

Until that blessed day, we’re going to have to settle for a clever fan-created mashup that features characters from the Avengers ‘singing’ a number of popular Christmas carols.

In what was no doubt a time-consuming process, this amalgamation of clips and quotes has come together beautifully, to add superhero stylings to your Christmas viewing lineup. Check it out:

The hilarious Star Trek Christmas tune

When you think of who performs the catchiest Christmas songs, you probably bring to mind artists like Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Mariah Carey, Michael Buble and Justin Bieber. If that’s the case for you, this video may change everything you know about the festive season.

I’m here to suggest that Patrick Stewart, in his role as Star Trek’s Captain Jean-Luc Picard, is the ultimate Christmas crooner. Still have doubts? Let this mashup creation by James Covenant put all of your apprehension to rest.

I bring you, “Make It So!”, I mean… “Let It Snow.”

Oh, and keep your ear out for the best part of the song – the slightly not-safe-for-kids exclamation “Shut up Wesley!”

Time to shake the Buble out of hibernation
